Hachi is a moving film about loyalty, unconditional love, and the unshakable bond between dogs and humans. A college professor named Parker finds an adorable young Akita puppy who's been abandoned at a local train station. Immediately after seeing the puppy, Parker is instantly captivated by the dog. When no one comes to the train station to claim the dog the following day, Parker takes the dog home and convinces his wife, Cate, to welcome the puppy as the newest addition to their family. Parker names the puppy Hachiko (Hachi for short). Hachi is a unique dog in that he refuses to learn how to fetch and every other people-pleasing trick. Still, Hachi is hugely loyal to Parker and warns him of danger. He follows Parker to the train station every morning and meets Parker in the evening after returning from his trip. One day the unthinkable happens, and we see the depths of Hachi's devotion to his owner that transcends death. The beautiful bond between Parker and his dog is enough to bring tears to the eyes of anyone watching and is what makes this seemingly simple film so moving.
Marley & Me (2008)
Marley & Me is a funny yet melancholy movie that looks at a loveable dog who exhibits challenging behaviors. Marley is a naughty dog determined to be deemed the worst dog of all time. Despite Marley's bad behavior, he brings the best out in his owners and teaches them valuable lessons.
All Dogs Go to Heaven(1989)
All Dogs Go to Heaven is a classic animated film that takes place in New Orleans. This film is about Charlie (German Shepherd/Border mix), sent to heaven after being killed by his former business partner Carface. Charlie returns to earth due to using a magical watch and makes it his mission to take revenge on Carface. Along the way, he enlisted the help of an orphan girl named Anne-Marie. As Charlie progresses with the plan, he realizes that Annie is being taken advantage of by Carface and is faced with the tough decision of whether to stick with his revenge plot or rescue Annie.
Lady and the Tramp(1955)
Lady and the Tramp is a classic American animated musical romantic film that tells the heartwarming love story of Lady, a pampered cocker spaniel whose life turns upside down after her owners have a baby and a free-spirited stray mutt named Tramp. This film's beautiful soundtracks and incredible animations landed this movie on the list.
