5 of the Best Dog Books For Readers of all Ages

Summer 2022 means getting back to the activities you neglected during the past year. That means taking time to unwind with a novel. What’s better than having your furry companion beside you, reading a book about them! For those of you  canine-obsessed humans, this list has you covered. 


The Call of the Wildby Jack London 


The Call of the Wildis a short adventure novel published in 1903.  This book centers around a dog named Buck, who slowly succumbs to his primal instincts as he gets accustomed to his new role as a sled dog in the Alaskan wilderness during the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush. 


Because of Winn-Dixieby Katie DiCamillo


Because of Winn-Dixieis a 2000’s children’s novel that was later adapted into a film in 2005. This heartwarming tale tells the story of a young girl named India Opal Buloni, who feels lonely and neglected by her mother. One day India befriends a dog that she finds at a local supermarket that she names Winn-Dixie. As soon as Winn-Dixie comes into Opal’s life, her life begins to change for the better.

The Dog Who Saved Me by Susan Wilson 


We do not give our canine companions enough credit for their role in saving us. As you may have guessed,  it’s the dog that does most of the saving. Have tissues ready for this one. 


Lily and the Octopus by Steven Rowley 


Lilly and the Octopusis a hilarious, heartwarming novel that tells the story of a man named Ted and a dog named Lily, whose love story is threatened by an octopus.
